Every once in a while I'll find a good Indian movie that has a great mix of action and emotion without being too ridiculously Bollywood. This one, Bahubali is one such movie. The story is split into two films, so will probably need to be watched over two nights. (Each part is long!)

All right then!
Plot: It's a fairly standard one, stemming out of treachery in a royal family with fallout that gets paid back in the next generation, with standard themes of filial piety and loyalty. Nothing groundbreaking, but executed perfectly with just the right amount of emotional gut punchery. There are times, though, where otherwise smart people make completely stupid decisions that take me out of it. So 1.5 out of two Dragonballs.
Visuals: There's a LOT of CGI and it's done very well for the most part, though it does fall down at points. You can tell movies like 300 really inspired it. The cinematography is lush, and it really does a good job of immersing you in the setting. I want to give it less than two but more than 1 Dragonball, I think the overall feel and the epic scope lets it get away with 2 out of 2 Dragonballs in this case.
Audio: A decent, pulse-pounding score that didn't feel cheap and had appropriate "punch the air" moments. Kind of typical fare. I'd say 1.5 out of 2 Dragonballs.
Overall feeling: The whole is more than the sum of its parts and I enjoyed it from beginning to end, even with its slight flaws. 1 out of 1 Dragonball.
Overall Rating:

Six Dragonballs. Again, check it out! You won't be disappointed.
