You have to be able to exert a degree of self-control to pull yourself up beyond whatever morass youfind yourself in. Tangentially, the fact that modern parents have raised their children to not look outside the home for truth is a factor in their cluelessness. I've suffered a bit of that, but not so much as some of the more rabid sururbanites I know. ANYWAY. Any time there's a difference in paradigm, you're going to have differences of opinion about it. It harkens back to rich and poor, wise and fool, Republican and Democrat. That sort of thing is inevitable. Granted, we're all probably here because we entertain ourselves with Sailor Moon stuff, if irregularly; that common interest, though, doesn't mean we're going to come from the same perspective on it. Back to the origins, I would say that each of our origin stories are a relatively interesting reflection on hobbies outside of things. Some of us are comic book nerds. Some of us are game nerds. Some of us are less easily puzzled out, but if sufficiently dissected can yield lots of information. There's a huge variety of differences around here, but one of the most important is, again, self-knowledge. It ss my personal observation/belief that those of us with more self-knowledge are much less involved in the idea of RP within the catbox and much more interested in the other things that go on here. The less SA tend to bring their issues with them; the more SA'd tend to be able to seperate. As someone who pretends he has the latter capacity, the seperation between persona and character is a pretty deep one. For others, the alias is pretty thin. I believe it's those people who take character offenses personally who are at most with conflict with those who simply "have powers." For some people, evolving a power structure is a response to the environment. For others, it's... something else. Something that I may have lost touch with.
